Russian Grand Prix

Sochi Autodrom, Sochi

The one brand new event on the 2014 calendar is the very first running of a Formula 1 Grand Prix in Russia. It will be held on the 5.853 metre track at Sochi, the Black Sea resort that hosted last year’s Winter Olympics. Situated within the Olympic Park, the track, designed by Hermann Tilke, runs clockwise with 12 right hand and 6 left hand corners, featuring a mix of high speed sections and technical parts. According to simulation data, the Formula 1 cars will hit a top speed of 320 km/h down the 650 metre straight between the first and second corners, while the average speed for the lap should be 215 km/h.
