Baldisserri: “The perfect weekend for Antonio Fuoco”

Maranello, 9 September – The head of the Ferrari Driver Academy programme, Luca Baldisserri, has spoken about the achievements by Antonio Fuoco last weekend. The 17-year-old from Cosenza won both races taking place at Mugello, all but sealing the Formula Renault Alps championship.
“I think it’s very important to remember that this is Fuoco’s first season in a single-seater. Usually for a young man coming from karting the introduction to the world of minor formulae is not very easy, and particular difficulties tend to emerge at the fastest tracks such as Mugello, Monza or Imola. Instead it’s at these very circuits that Antonio has astounded us the most, showing he has developed the right feeling with the car in a very short time. Last weekend his work was excellent, sealing the perfect points haul and showing on the track that he has made rapid progress on the learning curve that we planned when he joined the Ferrari Driver Academy. Now it will be important for Antonio to stay focused ahead of the final round of the season in Imola, where the target will be to put aside the mathematics and crown himself champion.”
