Maranello, 12 June –Last weekend was an unforgettable one for Erica, Nat, Roberto and Christian, four great fans of Ferrari from Canada – Erica from Toronto, the others from Montreal. Thanks to joining the Scuderia’s on-line community they found themselves attending the Canadian Grand Prix as guests of the team. Apart from cheering on their favourites from the grandstands, they actually got to meet Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso. “I think it’s the perfect driver pairing,” reckoned Roberto, whose family originally comes from Italy. “I’ve been following Fernando since before he came to Maranello and I think Felipe is amazingly talented. For me, Ferrari isn’t just about Formula 1, as I also closely follow Grand-Am and ALMS racing where my favourite driver is Olivier Beretta.” All four of them are long term fans, with Nat first following Formula 1 thirty years ago. The first race he saw was the 1977 Canadian Grand Prix, the last time it was run at Mosport and two years later he managed to have a quick chat with Gilles Villeneuve at Watkins Glen. He also attended the Italian Grand Prix in 2008, which was a special celebration, as he came with his son who had just graduated.
Erica is originally from Korea and has always been an Alonso fan, never missing the Montreal race and her dream would be to go to Spa, which she reckons is the best circuit on the calendar. Christian is a dyed in the wool Ferrari fan. “I’ve been following the team since I was a kid and Fernando is one of my idols. When he joined the Scuderia it was as though he had closed the circle for me, it was like a dream. I love cars and I’ve even driven a Ferrari on track. That was last year at the Mirabel circuit, on the outskirts of Montreal and I did five laps at the wheel of an F430: it was unforgettably exciting!”
