FDA – A good debut for Fuoco

Maranello, 20 April –Antonio Fuoco’s debut in the European FIA Formula 3 championship exceeded all expectations this weekend at Silverstone circuit.
Having finished fourth and third in the first two races in England, Fuoco won the third. He overtook poleman and Prema team-mate Esteban Oco at the first corner and then the Ferrari Driver Academy student made no mistakes over the 18 laps, taking the chequered flag over four seconds ahead of Max Verstappen. “I knew the start would be the key and luckily I got away perfectly,” commented Fuoco afterwards. “Once I was in the lead, I controlled the race without any problems. I had a really good feeling from the car and to be first past the chequered flag was really fantastic. I couldn’t believe it when I was on the highest step of the podium in my first weekend in this category.”

The weekend began with two very encouraging qualifying sessions with Antonio taking a third, a fourth and a second place, which meant he started all the races from the front two rows. “I am happy because the overall result is very good,” continued Fuoco. “I still need to get a bit more used to the new tyres, but I think very soon I will be a hundred percent.” After the first round, Fuoco lies second in the classification, which is led by Ocon on 58 points, six more than his team-mate. The European FIA Formula 3 series will be back on track in two weeks at Hockenheim.
