FDA – Marciello takes pole at Silverstone

Silverstone, 4 July –Raffaele Marciello took his first ever GP2 pole today at Silverstone. The Ferrari Driver Academy student set a time of 1.40.445, in qualifying for the fifth round of the season.

At the wheel of his Racing Engineering entered car, Marciello got his British weekend off to a fine start, also being quickest in the morning free practice. All of this continues the positive trend, after he finished on the podium twice at the previous event at the Red Bull Ring.

“It was good to get an immediate confirmation that the performance in Austria was not a flash in the pan,” said Marciello. “ Race by race me and team have got to know one another and in terms of how we manage the practice and race, my feeling for the Pirelli tyres has gradually improved. That was the key, because on my second set of new tyres there was a lot of traffic and very few drivers managed to improve.”

Marciello’s first race of the weekend takes place tomorrow at 14h40 over 29 laps.
