Maranello, 10 February –Attention to the slightest detail is the sign of a job well done and therefore this is no joking matter when applied to the world of motor sport, especially if talented youngsters are involved. That’s why nothing was left to chance in the first ever Florida Winter Series, devised as a way of giving those taking part a complete overview in a well structured fashion of exactly what is involved in being a professional racing driver.
All the drivers divided their time on Sunday between the gym and the workshop, working on the set-up of their cars in the morning, followed by a tough training session, tailor made for each driver.
“Each of the participants was given an ad hoc programme,” said Andrea Ferrari, the Ferrari Driver Academy trainer. “However, the aim was the same for all of them: working on their thresholds – strength, speed, resistance, as well as their coordination skills – balance, coordination and flexibility. The various exercises and equipment used meant each driver got a complete physical work out, in line with their professional requirements.”
