Florida Winter Series – Mixed fortunes

Maranello, 19 February –The Florida Winter Series’ second visit to the Homestead circuit for the final round of the championship, run on the infield-bankin configuration, got underway with another win for Nicholas Latifi. The Canadian led throughout, while the quickest qualifiers, Antonio Fuoco and Lance Stroll had to start from the back because of an error when lining up on the grid. These two Ferrari Driver Academy youngsters had mixed fortunes: Fuoco staged an amazing climb up the order, to go second after just a few laps, ahead of the Englishman Edward Jones, but Stroll stayed down the back before retiring after colliding with Dennis van de Laar.

Stroll had to go to hospital for a check over and was diagnosed as having sprained ligaments in the scaphoid bone of his left wrist, which means he will not take part in today’s two races.
