Fuoco stars in the PanamGP Winter Series Maranello, 8 March – As the Formula Renault series prepares to return to the track with its first winter tests, Antonio Fuoco grabbed his chance to race in the PanamGP Winter Series that is based in the United States. The mini-series uses Formula Abarth cars and was divided into two rounds, Homestead and Palm Beach, both with the double-race format. Fuoco quickly adapted to a competition that he didn’t know, even managing to battle for the top positions in the Homestead round. After his third placem in qualifying, Antonio took a fifth place and a third place in the two races, taking away the satisfaction of making the podium on his first appearance in the series. Even better was the following, round in Palm Beach, where Fuoco immediately set the second fastest qualifying time. That led to a grid position that Antonio exploited to the maximum, going on to take a dominant win in Race 1. Antonio’s success was completed by more glory in Race 2, earning him second place in the final championship standings.

“That was a very useful experience,” confirmed the head of the FDA programme, Luca Baldisserri. “We had the chance to try a championship that is well organised, and took away some very positive results. The PanamGP Winter Series is an ideal opportunity to train up young drivers in a period when European weather is not at its best. Now Antonio will return to concentrate on his Formula Renault programme, which will begin next April at the circuit of Vallelunga.”
