Luca di Montezemolo, Cesare Romiti

The Golden Lion at Ferrari

Maranello, 29 November – Ferrari has had a presence in the People’s Republic of China for over twenty years and the links between the Prancing Horse and most highly populated country in the world is ever more solid. Testimony to this is the presentation of the Golden Lion to Ferrari as part of the “China Awards 2013,” the annual event organised by the Italy-China Foundation to recognised Italian companies that have made the most of trade opportunities on the Chinese market and vice versa.

The award, recognising the presence in the country which was topped off with Fernando Alonso’s win in this year’s Chinese Grand Prix, was the only one presented by Cesare Romiti, president of the Foundation, who wanted to personally hand it over to Ferrari President, Luca di Montezemolo. Romiti had very kind words to say about his relationship with Montezemolo, consolidated over so many years working within the FIAT Group.

The prize giving ceremony took place at a charity dinner held last night at Milan’s Museum of Science and Technology. The Foundation will donate funds raised to the Lifeline Express project, a non-profit making organisation which offers free treatment and surgery, thanks to hospital trains that operate in the poorest and most remote parts of China. A significant contribution came from a silent auction in which the race suit Alonso wore during the Shanghai race went for 5000 Euros from an anonymous bidder.
