Warsaw, 18 May – There was a great show and plenty of enthusiasm for Scuderia Ferrari and Felipe Massa’s first appearance in Poland. They were there for the launch of the Shell V-Power Nitro+ fuel on the Polish market, combined with a motor show on the streets of Warsaw city centre. The main attraction of the day was obviously the F60 demonstration run with the Brazilian driver at the wheel. Before that, there was a parade of Ferraris on the temporary track, with fifteen Polish owners and a California leading the way with Felipe and his father on board. They got a rousing reception from the many fans lining the way.
In fact there were over 15,000 of them along the nine hundred metre track and they were able to enjoy watching Felipe shooting past at the wheel of the F1 car, while the guys from the F1 Clienti department carried out a series of pit stops, although without the anxiety of the stopwatch hanging over them, as is the case during the Grands Prix.
“It was a great day, as it’s always fun driving a Formula 1 car through city streets,” said Felipe to www.ferrari.com. “For me, it was almost like a training session for the Monaco Grand Prix where there too the barriers will be very close to the car! It’s the first time I’ve been to Poland and it was fantastic to see so many people lining the route. There is a lot of enthusiasm here and I think that is partly down to what Robert Kubica has shown he can do: Formula 1 misses him a lot and I hope he can soon get back to racing with us.”
Before leaving Warsaw, Felipe visited the offices of Ferrari Warsaw, the Prancing Horse concessionaire in the Polish capital.
