Test in Bahrain – 27 February 2014

The “Snap your Passion and win” contest (snapyourpassion.ferrari.com) – this year in its fourth edition – arrived in Bahrain to award the four winners, who followed the third Pre-Championship test session.

There were four special and additional members of the Ferrari team these past two days in Bahrain, following the Scuderia’s testing at the Sakhir track. They are the four winners of the Snap Your Passion competition, who were embedded with the team yesterday and today.

They were -

Alessandro Valbonesi is 23 years old from Forli, Italy. His great passion is video and photography, he studies in Milan and dreams of working in the world of communication linked to Formula 1. Alice Montilli is 27, from Pavia, Italy and works in Rome, where she thirsts for news and loves everything about Formula 1, as well as her cats.

The journey to Bahrain for 29 year old Anthony Hvala has been something of a prelude to his main event of the season, given that he is fact a colourful character from the Albert Park paddock in Melbourne, his home town. Hvala wanders from truck to hospitality, easy to spot in his red wig and half his face painted like a black and white chequered flag.

The fourth member of the team is equally colourful: David Chacon Arguello, 38, hails from San Jose and travelled halfway round the world for 30 hours! to be part of this initiative and he didn’t come empty handed. His idol is Fernando Alonso, but David had gifts for everyone, including one of those giant American mugs for drinking anything from tea to milk to chocolate, a magnet, a pin with a frog, the symbol of Costa Rica, for both Kimi and Fernando.

On both days, the four of them got to the track at 9.30 and enjoyed watching the morning’s testing from the main grandstand and from the balcony of the control tower, the symbol of the Sakhir circuit. Yesterday, at lunchtime they met Kimi Raikkonen and today, Fernando Alonso. They got to watch pit stops from very close up before spending time in the paddock, meeting such famous people as former Ferrari man Niki Lauda, now at Mercedes. Then it was back to the grandstand for afternoon testing, before attending the drivers’ press conference and the post race debrief. Yesterday night, they had dinner with the team in the hospitality are, while tonight it was time to leave Bahrain and head for their respective homes.
