NGK has the technology to produce plugs for every type of engine and it’s the world’s leading company in the production of spark plugs, glow plugs, lambda sensors and temperature sensors. This leadership was gained thanks to its ‘local’ sales policy through both its brands NGK and NTK: being a global manufacturer and at the same time being present locally with excellent efficiency.
Outside of the home country of Japan – the NGK Spark Plug Co., Ltd. corporate group has its headquarters in Nagoya – NGK alone has twelve factories, four development centers, 36 subsidiaries and 20 sales offices which ensure that products of the NGK and NTK brands reach customers quickly and reliably and give the best of its global competence and know-how.
In total, the approximately 13,000 employees of the corporate group (March 2014) helped the corporate group’s turnover reach 3.5 billion US dollars.
A high-tech company such as NGK could not resist the ‘racing appeal’: knowledge gained in this extremely challenging topic will then automatically be incorporated into future vehicle technologies.
So, NGK is proud of it’s long time involvement in all forms of motorsport and accepted the hardest racing challenge – Formula1 and the supply of the most famous racing team for all followers: Scuderia Ferrari, that is the oldest surviving and the most successful team in the history of Formula1.
So, it is a matter of fact that both NGK and Ferrari have been teaming up since more than ten years ago: a common partnership between the most renowned Formula1 team and the world’s leading manufacturer of spark plugs.
