James Allison was born in Lincolnshire, England, on 22nd February 1968. After obtaining a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Cambridge University in 1989, Allison began working for the Benetton Formula 1 team in 1990, as a junior designer in the Aerodynamics department. In 1992, he moved to Larrousse as Head of Aerodynamics, before rejoining Benetton two years later. Allison joined Ferrari in 1999, but then went back to Benetton in 2005, which by then was renamed Renault F1, to take on the role of Deputy Technical Director, before becoming Technical Director in 2009.
As of 29th July 2013, Allison is now in charge of the Technical Direction at Scuderia Ferrari.
James Allison is married to Rebecca and they have three children, Emily, Matteo and Jonathan.
In his spare time he likes to indulge his passion for flying and aircraft.
