Pat Fry was born on 17 March 1964 in Shepperton, in the United Kingdom.
He studied computer design at the Polytechnic of Central London and Electrical Engineering at the Technical College Brooklands, in Weybridge, Surrey and the Twickenham Technical College in Middlesex. Fry worked as an Electronic Development Engineer for Thorn EMI Electronics Ltd (1980 to 1987,) Electronics and Race Engineer at the Benetton Formula 1 team (1987 to 1992) before working in Research and Development and also Chief Engineer with the McLaren Racing Formula 1 team from 1993 to 2009.
He came to Ferrari in 2010 to take on the role at first of Deputy Technical Director and then of Technical Director of Scuderia Ferrari.
Today he’s the Engineering Director. Pat lives in Montale (Modena) and is married to Kate, with whom he has two sons, Joe and Charlie. In his free time, he indulges his passion for architecture and design.
