Test day in run-up to 2009 season

9 Dec 2008

On 9th December 2008, Kimi Raikkonen took part in a day’s testing at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in southern Spain. It was a collective test to prepare for the 2009 season, which would see a lot of new rules come into force, including a considerable reduction on aerodynamic downforce on the cars, as well as allowing the use of KERS. The Finn was at the wheel of an F2008 suitably modified to try and replicate the following year’s downforce levels, but not yet fitted with the energy recovery system, which was linked to the brakes. Despite the rain that fell in the afternoon, Raikkonen completed a total of 48 laps, the quickest in a time of 1.20.261.
